In this week’s Big 12 Rankings, does Texas move into the top 3 after a big win in Lubbock? Who stays in the top half of the Big 12 after this weekend’s games? Find out in Hook’em Headlines Big 12 Rankings.
1. Kansas State (Last Week: 1)
Another potential test for Kansas State, another blowout by Kansas State. Ho hum at this point. That Texas-Kansas State game at the end could have a lot at stake for both teams.
2. Oklahoma (Last Week: 2)
Oklahoma survived a slow start to beat the Iowa State Cyclones in Ames, IA. Oklahoma fans are looking for an at large BCS bid and getting to the Sugar Bowl.
3. Texas (Last Week: 6)
Texas got a huge win against the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock this past Saturday. The Longhorns have got a tougher task this week fighting back the excitement and added confidence in beating the Red Raiders. They have to get ready for the Iowa State Cyclones who beat Texas in 2010 and has played every top team close this year.
4. Texas Tech (Last Week: 4)
Even in a loss, Texas Tech has earned my respect. They play very well and may need to fix some of the holes in their secondary but the future is bright for football in Lubbock.
5. TCU (Last Week: 7)
What a win by the Horned Frogs in Morgantown. They came to play and that gives them a much needed confidence boost going into the home match-up against Kansas State.
6. West Virginia (Last Week: 3)
Winning the Big 12 in your first year in the conference was going to be tough for West Virginia. Maybe all of us were fooled by Geno Smith’s numbers but I think this speaks volumes for how tough the Big 12 is and how weak the SEC is. Texas A&M went 6-6 last year and lost a Top 10 draft pick in Ryan Tannehill and have a chance to win 10 games in their first year in the SEC. SEC dominance is a joke.
7. Oklahoma State (Last Week: 5)
The game against Kansas State wasn’t as close as the score indicated. Now Oklahoma State plays West Virginia, Texas Tech, @Oklahoma, and @Baylor in their final games. Don’t be surprised if they lose most if not all of those games.
8. Iowa State (Last Week: 8)
This is a very scary team that can beat the Longhorns. Losing Jake Knott was suppose to be a death blow to the Iowa State defense. Not exactly. Jeremiah George comes in and has 17 tackles when he averaged only 5 tackles a game before Knott’s injury. I am very impressed with Paul Rhoads and what he is able to do at Iowa State.
9. Baylor (Last Week: 9)
Well Baylor wins the battle of the bottom dwellers. Now let’s see if they can get to bowl eligibility.
10. Kansas (Last Week: 10)
They will be my number 1 team in the Preseason Big 12 Basketball rankings.
