The regular season has started but the Big 12 season is still a few months away. We will now ranked 10 to 1 how we see the Big 12 ending this season with Hook’em Headlines Big 12 Rankings. Today we ranked 10 through 6.

10. TCU (Last Year: 18-15)

TCU wasn’t a very good basketball team in a decent Mountain West conference. They brought in Trent Johnson to revitalize the downtrodden Horned Frogs program. But this will be a very rough first year for Coach Johnson.

9. Texas Tech (Last Year: 8-23)

Billy Gillispie resigned after NCAA sanctions were looming and he got out just in time. Texas Tech still has a young team that isn’t very talented but I do see them making some noise in the Big 12 late in the year and create an upset or two.

8. Oklahoma (Last Year: 15-16)

Lon Kruger has a tough task trying to build Oklahoma back up to being a national power again. Steven Pledger returns and that will be a huge boost to their abilities to competing for an NCAA tournament bid but they have a huge uphill battle. They have the most upside but outside of Pledger, I don’t who will step up.

7. Iowa State (Last Year: 23-11)

After a breakout season that many thought wouldn’t of happen so quickly after the former head coach left to take the job at Creighton (Yes that really happened). But the credit goes to Fred Hoiberg. He understood that Iowa State can be a great basketball program but he did it by transfers and recruiting players that can develop. I think the Big 12 is a 6 or 7 bid league in the NCAA tournament so with the infusion of senior point guard Korey Lucious, I believe that Iowa State will be a bubble team at the end of the year.

6. Kansas State (Last year: 22-11)

If their is one thing Bruce Weber can do, it’s win with other people’s talent. Kansas State returns a formadable squad with All Big 12 player Rodney McGruder returning for his senior season. The Wildcats have the talent to compete for a Big 12 title but the question is whether or not Bruce Weber can deliver that to them.

Come back tomorrow and we will release our rankings from 5 to 1.
