Monday was a mood swing in the State of Texas if you were a Longhorns fan.
At around 10:45 this morning, Lancaster ATH/DB Nick Harvey committed to Texas A&M on Twitter:
For much of the mid morning and early afternoon Longhorn fans ere questioning whether or not the Longhorns were in for a long dry spell in the state of Texas with the momentum that Texas A&M had with a potential Heisman winner, a 10 win season, and a very likeable coach.
Then at 3:45pm, Fort Worth Offensive Tackle Demetrius Knox made the choice to commit to the University of Texas. This was a huge commitment for Texas and one it sorely needed. If Knox would have committed to TCU or Ohio State, that would have been devastating to the odds that the Longhorns could have a successful 2014 recruiting class. That would have put a lot more heat on Mack Brown to win big next year. The goals still don’t change at Texas for Mack Brown, but this might help to hold together the 2014 class and add some big names to the class even if Mack Brown won’t be the coach.
Now Longhorn fans can enjoy the evening and know that not all is lost in the 2014 class.
