This is part 4 of our five-part Big 12 Bowl breakdown. Now we will pick the first 4 bowls that the Big 12 will be playing in this bowl season. Confidence level is measured by the number of bowl games (30 = Most confident, 1 = Least confident)
Bridgepoint Holiday Bowl (Baylor vs. UCLA)
UCLA is a strong team but it really hasn’t beaten any quality opponents this year (and no Nebraska doesn’t count). UCLA got whooped by Cal, who went 3-9 this year and barely survived a trip to Pullman, WA against Washington State. Baylor is on a hot streak and seemed to have figured out how to stop someone on defense. Baylor wins this game easily.
Baylor wins 45-24 Confidence: 12
Meinke Car Care Bowl Of Texas (Minnesota vs. Texas Tech)
Minnesota went 6-6 this year which was an improvement off of their 2011 season. But they went 2-6 in the Big 10 which is a very weak conference this year. Texas Tech is playing well but has struggled at the end of the season. I think the talent on Texas Tech will be the difference in this game.
Texas Tech wins 38-21 Confidence: 28
