Today, news broke that Tommy Tuberville, the head coach at Texas Tech, has accepted the head coaching job at Cincinnati. As shocking as that news is, there are some recruits that Texas should try to get from that recruiting class.
Devin Lauderdale, Houston, TX (Bellaire)
As you can see in the highlights above, he is a legit special teams player and with DJ Monroe and Marquis Goodwin leaving the program as seniors, someone needs to fill that void on kickoffs. Daje Johnson will likely be the one of the guys back on kickoffs but Devin can make his case to be that second guy in the 2013 season. I like his speed and he received offers from Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Georgia and Florida State. He will be a star in college football and you can’t have enough playmakers.
Dylan Cantrell, Whitehouse, TX (Whitehouse High School)
Now he doesn’t get a lot of national love from recruiting services but he is a solid wide receiver. After accumulating 1,400 yards in his junior season, Dylan got almost 1,400 yards again (1396) and caught 15 touchdown passes. He might stick with his Texas Tech commitment especially if they get Kliff Kingsbury from Texas A&M to come back to his Alma mater and be the head coach. Dylan is one of those East Texas athletes that plays hard every down and that is the type of receiver Texas needs.
