On Sunday, The Texas Longhorns Volleyball team clinched a spot into the NCAA Volleyball Final 4 with a 3 set domination of the USC Trojans. The Longhorns now head to Louisville to face off against unseeded Michigan on Thursday night. Michigan is riding high after beating 2nd ranked Stanford in Berkeley, California. Michigan is confident that they can go into Louisville and beat the Texas Longhorns. The Longhorns are 27-4 on the season.
On the other side of the bracket, Top Ranked Penn State will face off against 5th ranked Oregon. Penn State beat the Longhorns in 3 sets in University Park, PA this past September. I think Jerritt Elliot, the Head Coach of the Texas Longhorns volleyball team, would tell you that this team is more prepared for the Nittany Lions this time around. The Penn State Nittany Lions are a power in NCAA Volleyball, winning 4 straight NCAA titles from 2007-2010.
The Longhorns are looking for their 3rd national championship, their first since 1988. Now the Texas Longhorns have made the NCAA Tournament 25 out of the 28 NCAA tournaments that have been held since the dissolution of the AIAW. The Longhorns have made 7 final fours. This will be a huge opportunity for the Longhorns to take home the national championship and give Longhorns a taste of championship glory.
