According to reports from multiple outlets, Manny Diaz will be the Defensive Coordinator for the Texas Longhorns in the 2013 season.

Manny Diaz was a candidate for the Florida International job. His father used to be the mayor of Miami and he knows the area well. But it seems that Florida International is going in a different direction.

Manny Diaz was the Defensive Coordinator for one of the worst defense statistically in Texas Longhorns history so the fact that he gets to keep his job is just creating more contempt from fans about the direction the Texas Longhorns are heading.

So what can we expect from Manny Diaz next year? Hopefully things don’t get much worse but right now that’s up in the air. On the bright side, the Longhorns defense will return Jackson Jeffcoat and Jordan Hick after season ending injuries but the lack of depth caused Mack Brown to burn a few redshirts at the end of the year. Shiro Davis was one of those freshmen on defense who’s redshirt was burned and he showed flashes of the great athlete he can be.

So it’s now done, Manny Diaz is back on the staff after the worst defense in Texas history was under his leadership.
