After a disappointing trip to Waco, the Longhorns begin their conference home slate against the West Virginia Mountaineers. We’ll break down the West Virginia Mountaineers in anticipation for their first Big 12 road game.

West Virginia Mountaineers

RPI: 104

Rebounding is one of the strengths of this team. They averaged 39 rebounds a game. They hit the boards hard.

Lots of places but let’s begin at the biggest flaw. Field Goal percentage. The Mountaineers do not make many baskets from the field. Consequently, they don’t have many assists per game.

Best Player

Juwan Staten

The Dayton transfer averages 11 points per game and 3 assists per game. He is in double figures in scoring in 9 of the 13 games played this season. His best game was against Virginia Military Institute where he scored 18 points.

Every game for the rest of the season is a must win game. Texas needs to win every winnable game. It’s lost a resume defining win at Waco. It needs to beat a bad West Virginia team and I think with the game being at home, Texas will take care of business.

Texas wins 58-47
