Well after being shut out of the Bryan Harsin playbook, Marquise Goodwin was a focal point of the gameplan in Major Applewhite’s first game as offensive coordinator. That paid off with 132 all purpose yards and 2 touchdowns in Alamo Bowl.
That didn’t slow him down.
In the Senior Bowl, Marquise Goodwin shined throughout the practices and then in the actual game, he had 5 catches for 44 yards and 2 returns for 30 yards. He didn’t have any touchdowns but his 74 all purpose yards were the most among all North team’s wide receivers.
Here are some tweets about Marquise:
Marquise Goodwin touched the ball 33 times for #Texas this year. That should be criminal. You can’t box score scout this kid.

#Texas seems to have liked using Marquise Goodwin as a decoy instead of actually, ya know, giving him the ball. I shouldn’t be surprised.

Bryan Harsin did some good things at the University of Texas, but getting the ball to Marquise Goodwin was not one of them. As we saw in the Kansas game and the Alamo Bowl. He can win you games by himself. My hope for Major Applewhite is that he has learned from the mistakes of the past and will make Daje Johnson more available in the gameplan.
