Well the wheels have become to fall off of this 2013 recruiting class as the Texas Longhorns have lost their highest rated recruit A’shawn Robinson to the Alabama Crimson Tide. According to reports, he told Alabama Thursday night that he will sign with them and told Texas on Friday that he will not sign with them. This doesn’t come as much of a shock, but the timing is quite odd. He visited Florida State, USC and Alabama but kept telling people at his high school and anyone who would ask that he would sign with Texas. This is a huge loss for the 2013 recruiting class.
I think this GIF will suffice as my take:
I think I can speak for quite a number of Texas Longhorns fans but to say the Longhorns’ future is in doubt is putting it lightly. We all love Mack Brown for what he has done, but with Texas A&M’s recruiting success for 2013 and 2014 and that Coach February loses a 5 star recruit this close to signing day is not good. If Mack Brown wants this fix soon, he better skip going to his summer home in North Carolina and focus all his attention on this program.
We’ll have updates on Dontre Wilson’s and other official visitors as the weekend progress but unless a miracle happens, this will be the first time since the 2008 recruiting class that Texas doesn’t sign a 5 star recruit.
