The Texas Longhorns signed their 10th recruit of the day with the signing of Montrel Meander
Montrel Meander is a very solid athlete from the panhandle with offers from Colorado, Colorado State, Baylor, Mizzou, and Houston among many other offers. He committed to the Washington State Cougars in mid January after an official visit. The Longhorns have been looking for sometime for playmakers at the wide receiver position. He really liked the Longhorns but wanted to stay firm on his commitment. He decided last Friday that he would give the Texas Longhorns a try. Well it paid off for Mack Brown and his staff.
The Longhorns have been looking for speed receivers to fill out this class with Major Applewhite’s offensive philosophy changing from a power running attack to a speed, spread oriented attack. By watching some of the film on Hudl, he is deceptively fast because his acceleration is elite. That means he can blow by his corners and David Ash or whoever is throwing passes to him can get him open by throwing to a spot.
The Texas Longhorns are anticipating the signatures of 11 men today to go along with 15 total signees for the 2012 Football Recruiting Class.
