Spring Outlook:

With all 5 starters returning to the team in 2013, Texas looks to build strength along the offensive line. One of the major issues with this team was the lack of push that the offensive line generated to create holes for the running backs to run through. Against weak opponents, the offensive line was able to generate that push needed to create holes but wasn’t able to do that against very good defenses like Oklahoma, Kansas State and TCU. Major Applewhite has changed the philosophy of the offense to a no huddle offense. That means bigger splits between lineman with more 1 on 1 matchups with defensive players. Mack Brown has said that they will still have a power running game. Unless the strength of the offensive line improves, that won’t happen against good teams.

It all begins and ends on the offensive line and if this Texas team will do great things in 2013, it begins on the offensive line.
