In anticipation of the 2013 college football season, Hook’em Headlines will project the final 2013 college football ranking in our Preseason rankings. This means it won’t be the same 25 teams you see in every preseason poll because I believe many writers take teams who finished the year strong and project them high in the 2013 preseason polls. I will project based on talent level, schedule difficulty (or lack thereof) and previous success. So let’s begin the college football preseason top 25 with number 25 to number 21.

25. USC Trojans

Projected W-L record: 8-4

The USC Trojans were the favorites to win the national title in the 2012 preseason. Unfortunately like most preseason #1 teams, they failed to meet that expectation. Not only did they not meet that expectation, they failed miserably to even come close to a BCS game. The 2012 USC Trojans were the first ever preseason #1  team to finish that season unranked. So why would I believe they will be ranked at the end of the 2013 season? Two reasons.

1. They have no expectation of success and 2. Easy schedule.

They don’t face Oregon and they start off with a  pretty easy schedule. They get Arizona at home and could start off 6-0 but more likely 5-1. I think with their name, they will move up the polls rather quickly and even though I expect them to finish the second half of the season at .500, I believe they will sneak into the Top 25.
