A new website has been created to educate and enlighten alumni and fans of the University of Texas about what is happening to the University of Texas (UT) Board of Regents.
The website is called wakeuplonghorns.com and it was created by University of Texas booster and Houston attorney Joe Jamail. Other creators include Houston attorney Julius Glickman and Houston businessman Charles Tate. The site alleges that Gov. Rick Perry (pictured above), a Texas A&M graduate, is handpicking the members of the UT Board of Regents to bring down the university’s academic reputation.
From the Dallas Morning News:
“They’re trying to tell the people who are educators and who have experience in education how to do education,” said Glickman, former student body president in the early 1960′s who recently received the Distinguished Alumnus Award. “The chancellor and the educators and the administrators know their jobs. It’s not up to the regents to tell them how to do those jobs.”
Longhorns alumni and fans are encouraged by this website to contact their state representatives to voice their concerns about Rick Perry’s attempt to handpick the members of the UT Board of regents. Here is the video that the website created:
