As the school year comes to an end, USA Today has released the financial information from all the public Division 1 universities to see who brought in the most money. No surprises here, the Texas athletic department has the top overall ranking of all public universities. So now Texas is number 1 again (in revenue)!

Ignoring the fact that Texas Longhorns athletics has been underachieving for the better part of 3 years, I guess this is an accomplishment to be proud of for Texas fans.  I mean having money is never a bad thing in college athletics. The Texas Longhorns also spent the most on college athletics in 2012 with only 2 programs winning a national championship (Men’s Golf and Volleyball). The return on investment is quite pathetic when you consider how badly Texas got blown out by Big 12 champions Kansas State and Oklahoma. Also considering Texas basketball’s glorious season that including a blowout loss to Division 2 Chaminade and Texas Baseball unable to win a Big 12 series, it’s been a below average year for the Texas Longhorns. At least they have money right?
