Texas Longhorns Recruiting: Arrion Springs Picks Oregon

At the Opening at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. Cornerback Arrion Springs, a recruiting target for Mack Brown and the Texas Longhorns, picked the Oregon Ducks over the Texas Longhorns. Arrion Springs currently resides in San Antonio, Texas and plays at Theodore Roosevelt High School.

My Take:

From the beginning, Arrion Springs talked about leaving the state of Texas and spoke glowingly about the Oregon Ducks. The Texas Longhorns deserve credit for making up a ton of ground with Arrion Springs. To say he wasn’t impressed with the Texas Longhorns early on would be an understatement. He really wasn’t interested at all in the Longhorns. But almost doesn’t count. Finishing second in recruiting does nothing for you as a coach and as a program. If the Longhorns do keep in contact and he begins to waiver on his commitment because of distance or other factors, it might pay off. Right now, this is a loss for the Longhorns at a position group that is a need in the 2014 recruiting class.
