In anticipation of Big 12 media days, we will tell you what you will hear from each team. We will breakdown from where the Big 12 teams finished in the standings. Today we will breakdown the 8th place team, the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Head Coach: Dana Holgersen

Players To Attend: Defensive Lineman Will Clarke, Safety Karl Joseph, and Offensive lineman Quinton Spain.

What You’ll Hear From West Virginia:

Nothing to lose

After being the “favorites” to win the Big 12 in 2012 and falling to 7-6 by the end of the season, West Virginia has no expectations heading into the offseason. I believe that you will hear that the Mountaineers have nothing to lose. They have no pressure, just have fun. Coach Holgersen is bringing in 2 players from the defensive side of the ball might be to signal to the media that he has confidence that his best players are on defense.

New quarterback but same system

Clint Trickett, transfer from Florida State, will be immediately eligible to play for the Mountaineers. He should be the favorite to win the wide open quarterback competition that Dana Holgersen promised after spring practices. If Coach Holgersen was satisfied with the quarterbacks on campus, he wouldn’t have accepted the transfer of Clint Trickett. I also believe that the Coach Holgersen will say that the system will produce yards and points but it needs a competent quarterback to make it successful.
