Game Prediction: Texas Longhorns Vs. BYU

The Texas Longhorns travel to Provo, Utah to face off against the BYU Cougars. Here is my game prediction for the Saturday night matchup.

When the Longhorns have the ball.

The Longhorns were able to put up 715 yards of offense on the New Mexico State Aggies. The 2005 Texas Longhorns couldn’t do that. Colt McCoy and company couldn’t do that. The 2013 Texas Longhorns did it. That has to count for something. The BYU defense is very tough. I don’t expect 600 yards of offense, but I believe they will move the ball.

Advantage: Texas (slight advantage)

When BYU has the ball.

I will be the first to admit, I know nothing about BYU’s offense. The BYU offense ranked 60th in the FBS last year. Last week was tough to judge the BYU offense because of the rain in last week’s game against Virginia. I expect the BYU offense hasn’t become Oregon-like and won’t run Texas out of the stadium. Texas will hold it’s own.

Advantage: Texas

Prediction:

The Cougars had to play at Virginia before playing Texas. Texas used New Mexico State as a warmup for BYU. Not to mention the Desmond Harrison fiasco in the summer and I expect the Longhorns to come out ready to go and take care of business.

Texas wins 45-21
