With recruiting season just around the corner, new Texas head coach Charlie Strong has little time to assemble his staff. It appears he isn’t wasting any time.

The Austin American-Statesman reports that Louisville’s Vance Bedford has agreed to join Strong’s coaching staff as defensive coordinator. A Texas alumnus, Bedford spent the past six seasons coaching under Strong, first as a defensive backs coach with the Gators and later as the Cardinals’ defensive coordinator.

The move for Bedford suggests that Louisville will be looking externally for their next head coach. He was reportedly one of the members of the Cardinals’ staff on AD Tom Jurich’s shortlist.

It won’t be long before the rest of Strong’s staff surfaces. Keep your internet machines tuned to Hook’em Headlines for the latest Longhorns news and developments.
