The Texas Longhorns and Charlie Strong will have three key contributors back in 2014.
Orangebloods.com reports DE Cedric Reed, DB Quandre Diggs and RB Malcolm Brown will return for their senior seasons.
Reed finished the season tied for second on the team in tackles with 79. The junior made his presence known by adding 19 tackles for a loss, 16 quarterback pressures, 10 sacks and five forced fumbles. This is welcome news for a team that lacks experience on the defensive line.
Diggs recorded 58 tackles, 2.5 sacks, four tackles for a loss, one fumble recovery and one interception in 13 games. The two-time All-Big 12 performer led Texas with 10 pass breakups in 2013.
Brown rushed for 904 yards and nine touchdowns and earned second-team All-Big 12 honors. Brown will be expected to carry the load early on as RB Jonathan Gray recovers from surgery.
The Longhorns did lose one junior – to injury. OT Josh Cochran’s football career is over due to recurring shoulder issues.
