The No. 19 Texas Longhorns hit the road for a tough two game stretch against Top 25 conference foes. First up is a stop in Ames to face No. 17 ranked Iowa State Cyclones.
Texas (20-5, 9-3 Big 12) rebounded from a bad loss on the road to Kansas State with victories over Oklahoma State and West Virginia. Sophomore guard Javan Felix had 18 points against the Mountaineers as all five Longhorns starters scored in double figures. Balanced scoring has been the strength of this team. Texas has four players averaging 11 points or more a game.
The West Virginia game marked the return of Texas’ leading scorer, Jonathan Holmes. Holmes missed most of the Kansas State game and sat out the Oklahoma State contest. The junior forward contributed 11 points and seven rebounds in 21 minutes. Holmes had 23 points against Iowa State in the first matchup between the schools.
Iowa State (19-5, 7-5 Big 12) has rebounded from a tough early stretch in Big 12 play to rattle off wins in four of the last five games. The Cyclones have lost only once at home – 77-70 to #8 Kansas – and will be looking to avenge an 86-76 loss to Texas in Jan.
Senior Melvin Ejim leads Iowa State with 18.9 points and 8.6 rebounds a game. Ejim is the Big 12’s leading scorer.
Tip-off is at 6:00 PM ET and will be televised on ESPN2.
