The Texas Longhorns recently held its second Junior Day under the Charlie Strong regime. Several big name high school players came to campus to meet with the coaching staff and check out the university.
Strong sent them home impressed.
A new coach does not have the luxury of taking his time to get acclimated with his new surroundings. Especially at a school like Texas. Strong has hit the ground running. Whether it is locking up a Top 20 2014 recruiting class only weeks after being hired, helping out in strength and conditioning drills, or trading barbs with a hated in-state rival. There is no rest for the weary in college football.
Texas has been busy developing its 2015 class. There are both in and out-of-state players who have drawn the interest of Longhorn coaches. Texas has made an offer to the following athletes.
Darren Payne: the five-star DT from Alabama is listed No. 7 on Rivals. He holds offers from Alabama, Auburn and Clemson.
Holton Hill: Hill is a three-star DB from Houston. He has offers from numerous big schools like Alabama, Auburn, LSU, FSU and Notre Dame.
Ryan Newsome: the three-star RB from Aledo has drawn interest from the likes of FSU, Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Oregon.
John Burt: the WR from Tallahassee, FL is also being pursued by Auburn, South Carolina, FSU, Ohio St and LSU.
Darrion Daniels: the four-star DT from Dallas is starting to draw interest from the big schools. Notre Dame, Ohio St, Oklahoma and Oklahoma St are all interested.
Toby Weathersby: the three-star OG from Houston has offers from Oklahoma, Florida and Texas A&M.
One thing is certain; Strong is not afraid to go toe-to-toe with the Alabamas and FSUs of the world. It is a new era on the Forty Acres.
