There’s some good tidbits in here, including a quote from a Texas program employee who claims “Strong is always here. The coaches are everywhere and have their fingers in everything. Brown was a ghost.”
Turns out that when Charlie Strong said that practices would be tougher, he meant extremely difficult and draining. This strategy tends to hurt teams late in the season, but Strong apparently thinks the pros (changing the culture at Texas) outweighs the cons.
As has been well documented on this site and elsewhere, Strong isn’t afraid to criticize his team in a public forum. He believes, rightly or wrongly, that applying pressure on his young players through the media creates accountability and produces results. With a roster as talented as Texas’, he’s probably correct. However, there is still some “crash and burn” potential here.
Apparently Texas wants to have 7,895,798,439,244 passers on scholarship.
