The Kansas Jayhawks may come across as a blip on the radar screen for Texas fans. The game is squeezed in between UCLA, Baylor and Oklahoma. Some fans might consider it equivalent to a bye week.

Kansas won’t be a pushover if the Texas Longhorns don’t come in focused on the Jayhawks. This is a veteran team with a dual-threat quarterback that will be looking for a program-changing win.

Charlie Weiss enters his third season as coach of the Jayhawks. So far the results have not been positive. Weiss tried to infuse some experience last year by bringing in 15 JUCO players. The strategy did not come to fruition, as Kansas finished last in the Big 12 with a 3-9 record. The Jayhawks won just one conference game. This year Weiss focused on high school recruiting in hopes of infusing young talent with the veteran players he brought in through the JUCO ranks. Chances are he has set the program back a year or two with his 2013 recruiting strategy. This was probably not the best plan considering Weiss is running out of time to produce a winner.

Let’s take a look at the Kansas Jayhawks.
