Texas Football Recruiting did not go as well as Longhorns fans hoped on National Signing Day.

Texas Football did land some big recruits before Wednesday, though. Don’t forget that ESPN 300 recruits Sam Ehlinger and Toneil Carter are already in Austin as early enrollees.

Unfortunately, Texas did not check the box in all of the key areas we identified earlier in the week.

The Longhorns nailed the Offensive Line and Wide Receiver positions. But, the Defensive Line remains a concern going into 2017. We’ll see if ESPN 300 recruit Jamari Chisholm will address Texas’ needs on the D-Line.

Overall, new Texas head coach Tom Herman had a limited number of scholarships to hand out. This meant trying to spread out the recruiting offers across positions. Unlike in past years when Texas stacked players at key positions, the most players at any one position was three.
