(3) Made Three-Pointers
There’s no way Texas Basketball will be worse shooting three-pointers next season, which instantly makes the Longhorns more qualified for March Madness.
The Horns finished #346 out of 351 Division I basketball teams in three-point percentage this season. That’s awful.
You could point to any number of reasons why – players lost confidence, the best shooter Tevin Mack was suspended indefinitely midway through the season, and Texas lacked a PG to set up perimeter shooting.
We believe that Matt Coleman opening up the floor and running good offense will help restore confidence in a player like Eric Davis. Plus, players like Andrew Jones, Kerwin Roach, and Jacob Young will improve their shooting ability.
Overall, Texas played the most close games out of any major college basketball team this season. And, they went 3-7 in those games. A few more made threes and that record would have flipped, putting Texas in the NCAA Tournament bubble conversation.
Next year, we believe Texas’ shooting will be a lot better and put them all the way in the NCAA Tournament.
