Right Cornerback

1. Davante Davis

A seemingly forgotten name that could come through big time for Texas this fall is the rising senior cornerback Davante Davis. Last season, Davis was one of five defensive backs that managed at least two interceptions. Boyd was another on that list too.

Davis brings with him a long career with some valuable experience that is laden all over this secondary. Most of the starters in the Texas defensive backfield are going to be seniors. Davis is just another name in that group that will make it extremely difficult for Big 12 opponents in 2018.

At 6-foot-3, Davis has the size to gain some attention from NFL scouts this year too. He’ll have the ability to cover some of the bigger receivers in the Big 12, and with Maryland and the USC Trojans.

2. Kobe Boyce/Jalen Greene

Two younger cornerbacks are set to backup Davis this year. Redshirt freshman Kobe Boyce is a former underrated three-star high school prospect out of Lake Dallas, TX. He’ll be an underrated option for the Horns to turn to altogether this season.

And, incoming freshman four-star cornerback Jalen Greene is also a Texas native that was rated as the sixth best cornerback recruit in the nation. Greene and Boyce could duke it out to become the official backup cornerback for Texas at this spot in the secondary.
