X-Wide Receiver

1. Collin Johnson

The best overall wide receiver coming back for the Horns this season is the rising junior 2019 NFL Draft prospect Collin Johnson. If Johnson does declare early for the 2019 NFL Draft, he’ll likely become a first or second round selection.

Johnson was really the first wide receiver for Texas in a while that has a great chance to eclipse the 1,000 receiving yard mark in a few years. The Texas passing game has slipped up of late due to some inconsistent offenses under Charlie Strong.

As far as a matchup problem goes, no bigger exists on the roster than Johnson. He’s the best outside receiver that can go up and grab any pass in the Big 12. That’s going to be a major advantage for either Ehlinger or Buechele.

2. Brennan Eagles/Lil’Jordan Humphrey

If we could put one player ahead of the other at this particular position it would be the ultra-talented incoming four-star wide receiver Brennan Eagles. If we could put one player that will have a bigger impact on the team overall this fall, it would easily be Lil’Jordan Humphrey.

It’s tough to find one exact spot for Humphrey in this offense because Herman will end up using him all over the place. Humphrey is the most versatile skill position weapon on the roster for the 2018 campaign. Meanwhile, Eagles could become the next version of Johnson in this receiving corps.
