Texas Football: Projected 2-deep depth chart for 2018
Tight End
1. Cade Brewer
Tight end is a position that is about to get a lot deeper for the Horns. However, two guys stick out for now until this next crop of tight end comes in throughout the 2018 and 2019 recruiting classes. Look out for the two three-star tight ends coming in through the 2019 class in Jared Wiley and Brayden Liebrock.
However, the rising sophomore Cade Brewer contributed at some key times last year. That included two touchdowns coming against the USC Trojans and Kansas Jayhawks. The touchdown against USC nearly came as a game-changing score in a possible win at The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
A few years have past since Texas had a real effective tight end available. Brewer could be the guy that brings Texas over the hump and finally brings along a 200-300 receiving yard performance in 2018. He definitely has that type of potential.
2. Andrew Beck
One of the ultimate x-factors for the Horns is the return of senior tight end Andrew Beck. He had some big moments throughout his last full season in 2016. That included a big touchdown that came on the road against head football coach Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
The role that both Beck and Brewer come into could see them each seeing more than 100 receiving yards racked up this year. It’s tough to see where Beck fits into the team this year from the perspective of Herman building the future of this position up through Brewer.
