Pick Analysis. 1. player. Scouting Report. Small Forward. Years with Texas: 2006-07. Kevin Durant. 41

Not only is the former Oklahoma City Thunder superstar and now back-to-back NBA Finals MVP with the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant, the best former Texas basketball player, he’s the best in the NBA altogether. It feels like Durant has now taken the throne away from LeBron James as the NBA’s best player.

However, Durant is in a very good situation in Golden State alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. But, Durant did beat James in the past two NBA Finals. And, he won NBA Finals MVP both years in the process. Durant is as decorated as a player gets over the past two seasons, mostly thanks to his choice to join the Warriors a few years ago.

At this point, Durant is one of the most unguardable players in the NBA from almost anywhere on the court. His career averages have him scoring more than 27 points per game and hauling in over seven rebounds. Durant doesn’t get enough credit for his versatility on both ends of the court.

Last season, Durant posted some very nice shooting stats including nearly registering a 42 percent mark from three point range. The way his numbers are trending should see him be even more effective with the Warriors next season. As he gets fully adjusted to all the talent surrounding him with Golden State, Durant will continue to be more and more dominant.
