The forwards for Texas basketball have some work to do to make up for the most obvious loss on this roster. While there were times where the former five-star highly touted center Mohamed Bamba didn’t live up to his full billing at times, he was an amazing post presence for this team. The front court will have to retool itself this season to be effective for the Horns.

By far the most important leader for Texas in the front court this season is the senior forward Dylan Osetkowski. The former transfer big man is one of the pieces that can be a rock for Smart both in the locker room and on the court. If we’re talking about just the most important senior leaders for the Horns now, Osetkowski falls right at the top of the list.

Few times will a Big 12 team get a leader like Osetkowski back in the mix at the perfect time to help develop and mentor some incoming freshmen forwards. Even some of the sophomore class in terms of forwards still has some untapped potential that the presence of Osetkowski can provide a much needed push for the group. He’s so critical for the success of the program beyond this season even.

The scoring presence that Osetkowski brings to the table also is valuable for the Horns. He could be a double-double producer for the Horns in the paint on a regular basis. Yet, the area where Osetkowski needs to better his game is with his shooting ability. He really ratcheted up his shooting levels from three-point range last season and he also posted his worst career field goal percentage in 2017-18.
