Matt Coleman (PG) – 31 MIN: 13 PTS (5-9, 2-5), 7 AST, 3 REB, 2 STL

The sophomore looked in command in his second season as the starting point guard for Texas basketball. When the Longhorns had to battle early, Matt Coleman was the one keeping the group energized. His intangibles are impossible to teach, and they showed on Tuesday night.

On the offensive end of the floor Coleman played with poise. He turned the ball over twice compared to his seven assists. Coleman has the instinct to pass up a good shot for a great shot and that is something he did on a couple occasions against Eastern Illinois. When he did shoot, he knocked down his buckets at an efficient clip.

All-around great game for Coleman.

Dylan Osetkowski (PF) – 28 MIN: 9 PTS (3-5, 0-1), 5 REB

Dylan Osetkowski is entering his last year of his college basketball eligibility and second year as a contributor for the Horns. He started in the front court next to Jericho Sims and had a solid first game of the season.

On the offensive end Osetkowski looked somewhat passive, but we saw it as a sign of maturation. Last season the big man was constantly getting in trouble on the block and would tend to force up an errant shot. He played to his strengths Tuesday night by floating around the elbow, setting high ball screens, and picking and choosing his spots. Osetkowski also played solid in a few possessions at the head of the Longhorns havoc press.
