The fertile recruiting grounds that is Dallas, TX, for the 2019 Texas football recruiting class could bring some under-the-radar targets as potential walk-ons. The haul of preferred walk-ons for this 2019 Texas football recruiting class so far was pretty impressive, and it might not slow down during the coming weeks.

This recruiting cycle didn’t produce much for the Horns at running back, outside of the skilled four-star Buford, GA, native Derrian Brown. And, a fertile crop of running back targets from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex didn’t afford the Horns much luck. But, it wasn’t for a lack of trying. If the Horns do want to get something from this area on the recruiting trail, it could add DeSoto senior running back Terrance Shaw to the mix.

This 5-foot-10 and 205 pound running back had himself a nice showing, in a deep run with DeSoto High School in the playoffs. He showed off some nice power and agility on the ground and he has the ability to make an impact pass blocking. Shaw is an underrated prospect that could at least add depth to the stable of running backs for Texas.

Shaw is pretty much the definition of a last-minutes solution for head coach Tom Herman and offensive coordinator Tim Beck. He holds two offers from Division 1 schools. He is also getting some last-minutes looks from FBS programs like the Maryland Terrapins, Nevada Wolfpack, and Texas. He’ll at least wind up as a preferred walk-on at some FBS program.
