Texas Football: 5 drastically underrated offensive 2020 recruiting targets
Turning the attention for Texas football recruiting for the 2020 class to the offensive line, another depth add could be huge if it came from three-star Missouri native offensive tackle Monroe Mills. At 6-foot-7 and 280 pounds, the size is a very intriguing factor for Mills and he should start gaining more attention very soon.
A good portion of the recruits on this list did already receive an offer from the Horns. Prospects like Jordan and Crawford are also favored to land on the Forty Acres according to their 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions. Yet, a prospect like Mills doesn’t even have a 247Sports ranking yet, but his composite puts him outside the nation’s top 1,600 high school recruits.
There are some things here that we don’t agree with for compared to 247Sports. A lot of the stock for these recruiting rankings for some of the more unheralded prospects is way overdependent on early off-season combines, camps, and showcases. Not all of them give a true test to what the potential is for these players at the next level.
This is where we can highlight the value that Mills brings to the table for a program like Texas. At the moment, Mills only holds three offers and scout looks from two more programs. The highlights of his offers and scout looks includes the Duke Blue Devils, Kansas Jayhawks, and Buffalo Bulls. Mills would be an easier one to win over if he gets some more attention from the Horns as a very underrated offensive tackle with a strong frame and quick feet.
