Texas Football: 5 most important May 2021 recruiting targets
The ultimate target for Texas football for the 2021 recruiting cycle was obvious for a while now. There are a number of top 25 2021 high school prospects in the nation that the Longhorns have offered and should prioritize to make this class as good as possible. Yet, five-star All Saints Episcopal offensive tackle Tommy Brockermeyer stands out.
The strongest part of the 2020 recruiting class thus far for Texas sits along the offensive line. Three of the five commitments that the Longhorns hold at the moment for the 2020 recruiting class are offensive linemen. That trend of linemen rolling onto the Forty Acres under second-year offensive line coach and co-offensive coordinator Herb Hand could continue by landing Brockermeyer.
Although, it wouldn’t just be landing Tommy Brockermeyer that would be big for the Longhorns if he gives his commitment to play for Hand and Herman. Tommy’s brother, James Brockermeyer, is also one of the better 2021 high school offensive linemen coming out of the state of Texas. Tommy and James could fill in at different positions along the line too.
Tommy Brockermeyer is rated as the nation’s No. 3 prospect coming out of high school for the 2021 recruiting cycle. He could also help spark a trend that improves Herman’s success in recruiting out of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The results for Herman recruiting there for the past few cycles weren’t top notch.
