A player that seemed like he was around forever in the college football landscape is the former Texas football five-star offensive line signee from the 2013 recruiting class Darius James. No matter how I look at it, James is a complete bust for his case with the Longhorns.

In just two years with the Longhorns, James struggled to make an impact and utlimately wound up transferring to join the Auburn Tigers. White and James both fit the bill of a player who struggled to make it up the depth chart and then transferred out of the Texas football program when it was all said and done.

At least Kelson hung around for the entirety of his collegiate career on the Forty Acres. But James did play in six games during his redshirt freshman season in 2014. He then transferred to Auburn ahead of the 2015 campaign. He got to play in 32 games with Auburn, but that doesn’t matter a lick to the Longhorns.

James originally ranked as the top offensive guard recruit in the nation for the 2013 cycle. He also committed to Texas and head coach Mack Brown well ahead of National Signing Day 2013, back in the spring of 2012. It seemed like all the pieces were in place to make James work with this Texas offensive line, but that plan crashed and burned.
