3. Keaontay Ingram, Running Back

Former four-star recruit and Carthage, TX, native rising junior running back Keaontay Ingram had a huge impact right away for Texas since his true freshman campaign. Ingram sparked the Longhorns ground game during his freshman season, alongside former Cal Golden Bears graduate transfer running back Tre Watson.

Ingram was one of the multiple top 200 ranked 2018 high school prospects that signed with Texas in this recruiting class. He had offers from more than 30 schools, and chose the Longhorns over the likes of the Texas A&M Aggies, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, and Ohio State Buckeyes.

The 6-foot and 220 pound Ingram racked up more than 1,500 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, all while averaging well over five yards per carry in his first two years with the Longhorns. Ingram also added 412 receiving yards and five touchdowns to give Ingram 15 total touchdowns and nearly 2,000 total yards from scrimmage in his college career.

Ingram was a mainstay to the Texas ground game last season, and should continue to be this coming season. Last season, it was then freshman running back Roschon Johnson and Ingram that became the new two-headed monster out of the backfield. Those two combined for more than 1,100 rushing yards while averaging over five yards per carry last year.
