There’s an opportune recruiting cycle looming for the Longhorns in 2021 to land a very solid offensive line class. All of the offensive line talent in-state that Texas could haul in for their 2021 recruiting class is very special. If they capitalize, it does decrease the necessity to add more depth in the trenches for the following cycle.

However, one looming target that the Longhorns seem to have some level of traction with early on is five-star Bowie offensive guard Devon Campbell. The lone expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction in for Campbell has him committing to Texas over the rest of the field. Although the other program that is listed as “warm” in the pursuit of Campbell is Oklahoma.

Campbell ranks as the nation’s No. 14 2022 high school prospect, top overall offensive guard, and No. 2 prospect out of Texas. This 6-foot-4 and 265 pound Arlington, TX, native does need to put on some weight, but that will come with time. Campbell is only now entering his junior season of high school football.

As of the morning of May 18, Campbell holds offers from two dozen schools. He also holds offers from the likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Baylor Bears, Florida Gators, Florida State, LSU, Miami Hurricanes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Oklahoma State, Penn State Nittany Lions, TCU Horned Frogs, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas A&M Aggies, and Ole Miss Rebels.

Texas was one of just five programs that offered Campbell before the turn of the calendar year, back in December 2019.
