This would be really digging deep for the Longhorns if they wanted to find an answer to the emerging quarterback depth problem in the 2021 class. The 6-foot-2 and 205 pound DeSoto dual-threat quarterback/athlete Adonis Armstrong is currently unranked by most recruiting services, but he does bring an interesting skill set to the table.

Landing a commitment from Armstrong would fit the bill for what Herman and his coaching staff like to go after on the recruiting trail when winding down each cycle and tackling a position of need. Armstrong might not only be able to fit in at the quarterback position for the Longhorns, but also in the receiving corps or at linebacker or defensive back.

Armstrong has played all over the place on both sides of the ball in his football career at DeSoto High School. His Rivals recruiting profile has him listed as a safety. If Texas doesn’t wind up wanting to put Armstrong at quarterback, they could add him in on multiple other spots on either side of the ball.

He only holds offer from one Division I school at this point in time (Arkansas Baptist). But Armstrong also holds reported scout looks from Texas, Oklahoma, the Oklahoma State Cowboys, and Texas Tech Red Raiders. Armstrong would certainly be a deep dive choice for Texas, but a viable and versatile one at that.
