Texas Football: 4 2021 QB prospects that could replace Jalen Milroe
The film and highlights from the three-star East Mississippi Community College dual-threat quarterback Jamari Jones does look a bit like a JUCO version of Milroe. Jones stands at 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds and he does have a big arm to hit a lot of throws down the field.
Jones is about the best that the Longhorns will find if they want to hit the JUCO ranks to find a solution at the quarterback position in the 2021 class. Texas does usually go after at least one or two JUCO targets on either side of the ball for each passing recruiting cycle. But they have yet to really look at the JUCO level at any position group in the 2021 class.
This would be a good time to start.
Originally when Jones was coming out of Northwest Rankin High School in Flowood, MS, he was recruited by a really limited number of schools. The sole Division I offer he held came from FCS Jackson State. He did have reported scout looks from the Louisiana Ragin-Cajuns, Louisiana Tech, and the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. But that was about it for him coming out of high school.
Although Jones is getting a bit more attention now coming out of EMCC in Scooba, MS. He ranks as the nation’s No. 48 2021 JUCO prospect, the top ranked dual-threat quarterback, and the No. 15 prospect out of Mississippi (Top247). The only two offers he holds now, though, came from Baylor and FCS UT-Martin.
