3) Texas football flips from Baylor

The furthest back we got on this list is to the 2016 cycle and a Longhorns recruiting class that had a lot of volatility to it. In fact, the volatility of the 2016 Longhorns recruiting class was a great match for the twists and turns that got the current Cleveland Browns rookie 6-foot-4 and 300 pound defensive end Jordan Elliott to where he is today.

Coming out of Westside High School in Houston, TX, during the 2016 recruiting cycle, Elliott was a highly sought after prospect. He was a four-star defensive end/defensive tackle that was among the most potent and college ready linemen for the entire 2016 class. That’s why 40 schools offered him during that cycle.

Elliott ranked as the nation’s No. 119 2016 high school prospect, No. 15 defensive tackle, and No. 19 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranked Elliott as the nation’s No. 70 high school prospect, No. 10 defensive tackle, and No. 6 prospect out of Texas. He wound up originally committed to former head coach Art Briles and Baylor, but flipped his commitment to former Texas head coach Charlie Strong and signed with the Longhorns on National Signing Day 2016.

But it wasn’t long that Elliott lasted on the Forty Acres. Elliott only played in four games during the 2016 season with the Longhorns before transferring to join the Mizzou Tigers. He had to sit out one year before making his Mizzou debut during the 2018 season. During his college career between Texas and Mizzou, Elliott registered 76 combined tackles, 18.0 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, four pass deflections, and one forced fumble, in bits and pieces of 26 games played.
