The newest potential transfer portal target that’s coming to the table of late for the Longhorns is the former Arkansas State Red Wolves JUCO recruit and junior offensive tackle Jarrett Horst. We saw Horst’s name appear in the transfer portal just after the departure of now former Arkansas State head coach Blake Anderson to take the open job with the Utah State Aggies earlier this month.

Horst did play in seven games for the Red Wolves this season, and more than a dozen last year. He did really well with the Arkansas State offensive line last season, and had another solid run again this fall. Last season, Horst was named to the All-Sun Belt Third-Team, and he landed on the Outland Award Watch List this fall.

Texas reportedly (Horns247, paid content) got in contact with Horst recently, as one of multiple teams that are targeting him out of the transfer portal. Some of the other schools that are reportedly pursuing Horst out of the portal includes the Utah Utes, Arizona Wildcats, Syracuse Orange, and Florida State.

The performance that Horst had for Arkansas State in run and pass blocking was better last fall than this season, but he was still reliable for them in the seven games he played in. He would be expected to replace the standout 6-foot-7 and 300 pound redshirt junior offensive tackle Sam Cosmi, who is entering the 2021 NFL Draft, next season.
