Texas Football: 4 biggest 2021 targets ahead of National Signing Day
4) 2021 Texas football targets ahead of NSD
Among the wide receiver targets remaining for the Longhorns for this cycle, the two remaining uncommitted that stick out are the three-star Rudder product Keithron Lee and four-star Opelousas Catholic product Keon Coleman. Since Texas lost out on the likes of the four-star Kosciusko wideout Antonio Harmon to the Mississippi State Bulldogs during the Early Signing Period, Coleman could be a target for Herman that comes to the forefront.
At the moment, Coleman is scheduled for a decision date on National Signing Day (Feb. 3, 2021). He looks to be picking between a plethora of schools that he just narrowed down over the weekend. Coleman reportedly (per 247Sports) named his favorite schools as the Longhorns, Virginia Tech Hokies, FCS Jackson State, Grambling State, Michigan State Spartans, Florida A&M, USC Trojans, Ole Miss Rebels, and Houston Cougars.
There is certainly an interesting array of finalist schools that Coleman has in the mix. A few of the other highlighting schools on his offer sheet that he cut included the Baylor Bears, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Miami Hurricanes, Oklahoma, Penn State Nittany Lions, TCU Horned Frogs, Tennessee Volunteers, and Texas A&M Aggies.
Coleman ranks as the nation’s No. 378 2021 high school prospect, No. 63 wide receiver, and No. 12 prospect out of Louisiana (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 40 wide receiver and No. 40 prospect out of Louisiana.
If Texas is able to land a commitment from Coleman, he would be the third wide receiver in their 2021 class. The other two that signed during the Early Signing Period were three-star Monarch product Jaden Alexis and three-star Warren Easton product Casey Cain.
