3) 2021 prospects for Texas football to pursue with Banks

A name that has emerged before on the radar of the Longhorns on the recruiting trail is the unheralded four-star Opelousas Catholic School sizable 6-foot-4 and 200 pound wide receiver Keon Coleman. This Louisiana native is one of the best remaining uncommitted wide receivers left for this recruiting cycle.

It seems like just about half of the Power Five schools around the country were on Coleman’s radar at some point, including the Longhorns. And there’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding his planned Feb. 3 commitment date (National Signing Day). There’s a few Big 12 schools that could have the edge in landing his pledge, but that’s mostly just educated guesses right now.

Texas still barely has just one blue chip wide receiver/tight end commit in their 2021 class at the moment, which is four-star Monarch wideout Jaden Alexis. Depending on what happens with the commitment of the unsigned three-star Rudder wide receiver Keithron Lee (one of the few remaining unsigned prospects in the 2021 class at this point), Texas might use another commit at the position ahead of the conclusion of National Signing Day.

Moreover, Coleman ranks as the nation’s No. 378 2021 high school prospect, No. 63 wide receiver, and No. 12 prospect out of Louisiana (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 40 wide receiver and No. 12 prospect out of Louisiana.

As of the early afternoon of Jan. 15, Coleman holds more than 40 schools on his lengthy offer sheet. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Kansas Jayhawks, Auburn Tigers, Michigan State Spartans, Ole Miss Rebels, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Oklahoma Sooners, and Texas A&M Aggies.
