1) Landing spots for former Texas football DL Marqez Bimage

SMU

A very common landing spot for former Longhorns out of the transfer portal is with head coach Sonny Dykes and the SMU Mustangs out of the American Athletic Conference. SMU took on numerous former Longhorns out of the portal, such as former star quarterback Shane Buechele and kicker Chris Naggar.

If SMU is seeking out more help from the transfer portal, this time to fill a depth need in the trenches, then Bimage could be a good option. And just like the other two programs on this list did, SMU was one of the 13 schools that offered Bimage coming out of high school. SMU was one of the schools early on offering him too after he originally decommitted from Houston.

Although the transfer portal was abundance with players transferring out of and landing with the Mustangs already this offseason, none play along the defensive line. But that doesn’t mean that they won’t want to add more depth in the trenches. If the Mustangs do wind up losing senior edge rusher Delano Robinson this offseason along with senior former transfer Richard McBryde, then might need to turn to the portal for help.

SMU makes a lot of sense as a potential landing spot for Bimage. An offer out of high school, staying in-state, and landing in a place where a number of other former Longhorns have gone all add up to a likely connection that could form in the near future. SMU has already landed nine players out of the transfer portal this offseason.
