Texas Football: 3 elite 2022 targets getting away from Steve Sarkisian
2022 prospects getting away from Sark No. 2: Kam Dewberry
Although the recruitment of the uber-talented four-star 6-foot-4 and 315 pound sizable Atascocita offensive tackle Kam Dewberry looks to remain open for a good while this offseason, Texas A&M is also trending more than any other school to land his commitment at this point in time. The Aggies are frequently a competitor of Texas on the recruiting trail and one that Sark and his new staff need to figure out how to work past.
Doing better at recruiting in the trenches is one example of an area where Sark’s coaching staff is going to need to do better than the former regime of Herman and co. One of the biggest disappointments that Herman and his staff experienced on the recruiting trail last offseason was missing on so many blue chip targets along the offensive line.
The sole expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction in for Dewberry does have a semi-confident projection for him giving his commitment to the Aggies over the Longhorns and the rest of the competition. And the Rivals FutureCast has two of their three analysts and publishers picking Dewberry to give his pledge to Texas A&M over Texas.
Texas and Texas A&M are two of 33 schools that have offered Dewberry thus far. Some of the other notable offers he has include the Crimson Tide, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma, Florida Gators, Georgia, LSU, Oregon, TCU, and USC.
Moreover, Dewberry ranks as the nation’s No. 119 2022 high school prospect, No. 12 offensive tackle, and No. 22 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 216 high school prospect, No. 20 offensive tackle, and No. 31 prospect out of Texas.
New Texas offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood will have a hand in trying to get the interests of Dewberry back to Austin over College Station. Getting an official visit scheduled with the product hailing out of Humble, TX, is key for Flood and Sark in the near future.
