Summer visitors to watch No. 3: Earnest Greene

First and foremost, the Longhorns 2022 class has to hit on recruiting well in the trenches. Texas missed on a lot of top-tier targets that looked like they were prioritized by now former head coach Tom Herman and ex-offensive line coach/co-offensive coordinator Herb Hand in the 2021 class. The highlighting event of all the whiffs in the trenches for the Longhorns 2021 class was missing out on the Brockermeyer at the hands of Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

But at the time, new Texas offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood was in almost the same role with the Crimson Tide. He knows what it takes to recruit offensive line talent at the top tier level in college football. And that should pay dividends for the Longhorns as they look to bounce back along the offensive line in their 2022 class.

A top target of the Longhorns 2022 class that should have set an official visit on the Forty Acres this summer is the skilled and sizable 6-foot-5 and 330 pound St. John Bosco offensive guard Earnest Greene. Texas is the most recent school to have offered Greene up to this point.

Moreover, Greene ranks as the nation’s No. 52 2022 high school prospect, No. 2 offensive guard, and No. 6 prospect out of California (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 67 high school prospect, No. 2 offensive guard, and No. 7 prospect out of California.

Offensive guard is a position that the Longhorns really didn’t recruit well for the last few cycles. Landing a commitment from Greene would be massive for their 2022 class.
