Texas Football: 3 key recruiting targets trending to the Longhorns
Switching the focus to the Longhorns 2023 recruiting class, adding a commit on the defensive side of the ball for the first time could be notable for Sark and new defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski. And former Notre Dame Fighting Irish defensive backs coach Terry Joseph is already doing some good work on the recruiting trail to add to the secondary through the 2022 and 2023 classes.
A big notable 2023 target for the Longhorns in the defensive backfield is the talented 6-foot and 185 pound Arlington-Martin cornerback Javien Toviano. Texas has a solid foundation in the defensive backfield built in their 2022 class, with the commitments of four-star Aledo safety Bryan Allen Jr. and four-star Memorial cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau in store.
Toviano would be a great way for the Longhorns to start off their 2023 class in the secondary.
Both expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions are currently favoring Toviano’s commitment to go to the Longhorns over the rest of the competition.
Texas is one of 15 schools that have now offered Toviano. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet include the Arkansas Razorbacks, Baylor Bears, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Ole Miss Rebels, Oregon, SMU Mustangs, Texas A&M Aggies, and UCF Knights.
Moreover, the Arlington, TX, native ranks as the nation’s No. 48 2022 high school prospect, No. 5 cornerback, and No. 6 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 85 high school prospect, No. 8 cornerback, and No. 9 prospect out of Texas.
