Texas Football: 3 key 2022 targets Sark is gaining momentum with
Brenen Thompson, ATH
The insane speed that the talented four-star Spearman 5-foot-10 and 165 pound athlete/wide receiver Brenen Thompson brings to the table is something special that the Longhorns would love to get in their program. This in-state product is one that Sark and the Longhorns are going to have an uphill battle still to get a commitment from.
The good news is that it appears that the Longhorns are gaining some ground of late in pursuit of Thompson. Texas is now one of three dozen schools on Thompson’s lengthy offer sheet. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet are the Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Stanford, Tennessee, and USC.
There’s really not going to be any speedier of a target that the Longhorns can find for their 2022 class. Thompson brings nearly Olympic-level track speed to the table as a premier track runner around the state of Texas.
Second-year wide receivers coach Andre Coleman is doing a nice job on the recruiting trail of late for Texas. He needs to continue to do so if they want to win over the commitment of Thompson over the likes of Clemson, Oklahoma, and the rest of the field.
Moreover, Thompson ranks as the nation’s No. 86 2022 high school prospect, No. 8 athlete, and No. 16 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 166 high school prospect, No. 12 athlete, and No. 27 prospect out of Texas.
