Texas Football: 3 key 2022 targets Sark is gaining momentum with
Kelvin Banks, OT
Most Longhorns fans know at this point about the struggles that former Texas head coach Tom Herman and offensive line coach/co-offensive coordinator Herb Hand had in recruiting in the trenches during the 2021 cycle. Texas has brought the importance of recruiting well in the trenches to the forefront for their 2022 class, and rightly so.
One of the top targets in the trenches on either side of the ball for the 2022 Longhorns class is the former Oklahoma State commit and elite five-star Summer Creek 6-foot-5 and 300 pound offensive tackle Kelvin Banks. This Humble, TX, native is a prospect that Texas could build a solid foundation off of in their 2022 class along the offensive line.
Texas and Oklahoma State are two of two dozen schools on Banks’ offer sheet as of the night of April 16. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet are Texas A&M, Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon, Florida, Florida State, TCU Horned Frogs, Tennessee, USC, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
Moreover, Banks ranks as the nation’s No. 21 2022 high school prospect, No. 3 offensive tackle, and No. 5 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 24 high school prospect, No. 2 offensive tackle, and No. 7 prospect out of Texas.
There’s no clear frontrunner at this point in time to know who will land Banks’ commitment when it’s all said and done. Good news for Texas is that Banks will be on the Forty Acres this summer for an official visit on June 18.
